What is Zoombido?

Zoombido is inspired by Bogota’s famous Ciclovía - where the streets are blocked off and people skate and cycle to various performance stages along the route.

In our ZoomBido, held in beautiful Gamboa, participants are invited to visit a variety of Discovery Points by walking, jogging, cycling (bikes for rent!), scootering or even rollerblading.

Locations of ‘Discovery Points’ will be revealed on an interactive map you can download to your mobile device once you arrive. Discovery Points will be where fun, hands-on activities are staged for families to enjoy together.

When and where?

The event takes place on Sunday May 6 from 9-12 pm, with a raffle held at 11:45 am at the Gamboa Rainforest Resort Activity Center.

What are the Discovery Points?

Discovery Points are hands on activities. They include learning alongside scientists from the Smithsonian's Ant Lab and Q?rioso Bus, paddling aboard a dugout canoe with the Chagres River Paddling Club, a climbing wall by Thrive, Yoga for all, enigmatic body art by graphic designers, jumping with Salta Panama,  traditional basket weaving with the Wounaan and Emberá women of Gamboa, and Storytelling about chocolate with Tropical Chocolate Café Panamá as well as access to  the Gamboa Rainforest Resort's Sloth Sanctuary, Butterfly House and Frog Oasis just to name a few.

How much will it cost?

Tickets cost $15 for adults, and $10 per child. This includes all activities and all Discovery Points many of which would cost over $20 each on their own! Children under age 2 are free.

Every ticket will be entered automatically into the raffle to be held at the end of the event and proceeds of the event will go towards Panama’s first Inquiry Lab.

Do I need to sign up?

No! registration is at the door, so there is no need to sign up - just come along!

However, if you'd like to purchase your ticket ahead of time, you can by clicking here.

Be sure to list your name when you purchase the tickets so we can make them available at the Zoombido! ticket booth on the day of the event.

Will food be available?

There will be stalls for purchasing snacks and drinks. This is a GREEN event, so please bring your own drink bottle. You will be able to buy drinks that can be poured straight to your own container. Help reduce waste and keep Gamboa beautiful!

Who can participate in ZoomBido?

The idea of Zoombido is that everyone can participate. Toddlers to great grandparents!

What is the Inquiry Lab?

The Gamboa Discovery School’s mission is to promote scientific inquiry. That mission extends to our community. The Gamboa Discovery School is building a lab and programming special events to reach people of all ages in our community.

What should I bring?

Comfortable clothing, hat and sunscreen, water bottle (remember this is a green event!) as well as your preferred method of non-motorized vehicle (although you can walk around too!). Bikes are available for rent.

Please bring a water bottle: it’s more environmentally friendly than plastic bottled water and helps keep Gamboa beautiful. You will be able to buy drinks that can be poured straight to your own container.

Many Discovery Points will have additional products for purchase.  An ATM is located in Gamboa if you need more cash.

How do I get to Gamboa?

It's easy to get to Gamboa.

Driving takes 25 minutes from Clayton. Follow these directions on your phoneUber will also take you to Gamboa, often much cheaper than you think.
